Your provider
J.D. Ligier, MPAS, PA-C, IHP, is a certified physician assistant, certified Integrative Healthcare Provider (IHP), and University of Pittsburgh graduate with more than six years of experience in healthcare. He holds a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree and brings an interest in primary care, integrative health, wellness, and aesthetics to Good Roots Medicine.
His approach starts with listening to your concerns and understanding your health history, daily life, and goals. He wants patients to understand their options, feel comfortable asking questions, and take an active role in decisions about their care. Whether you’re seeking ongoing primary care or exploring a specific health or aesthetic concern, the conversation begins with what matters to you.
J.D. recently published Physician Associate 101: A Step-by-step Guide to Achieving Your Career, available on Amazon and Walmart.
J.D. is a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served with the 101st Airborne from 1989–1992. A husband, father of four, and Upper St. Clair resident, he is building Good Roots Medicine to serve the South Hills community his family calls home.

What guides us
Your history and preferences belong at the center of your care.
Clear language, practical questions, and space to decide.
Bring primary care, wellness, and aesthetics into a shared conversation.
A note from J.D.
I wanted to open Good Roots because I know how frustrating rushed, impersonal visits can be. In corporate medicine, I’ve sometimes been limited to ten minutes per patient. I want to give people time to explain what’s happening and understand their next steps.
I also believe care should be proactive. Treating a diagnosis matters, but so does looking at the whole person and the factors that may be contributing to a problem. My goal is to bring traditional primary care, integrative primary care, wellness, and medically managed aesthetics together so patients don’t have to piece their care together across separate practices.
Upper St. Clair and the South Hills are home. I’m proud to build this practice for my own community. Go Steelers!
J.D.
