Rooted in care
Good Roots Medicine is preparing to open in Pittsburgh’s South Hills in Spring 2027, offering primary care, integrative health, wellness, and aesthetics.
Your provider
J.D. Ligier’s path to healthcare has been anything but ordinary. He is a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served with the 101st Airborne from 1989–1992. A University of Pittsburgh graduate and Upper St. Clair resident, he brings more than six years of healthcare experience to Good Roots Medicine, following a career spanning over 20 years in Hollywood film and television. You may even recognize him from documentary appearances on Netflix and Hulu.
That varied background shapes his appreciation for people’s stories. At Good Roots Medicine, he wants patients to feel comfortable sharing theirs—with time to ask questions, discuss concerns, and build a relationship with their provider.
Outside the clinic, J.D. is a proud husband and father of four. His wife, whom he describes as brilliant, is a Pitt graduate student studying Applied Developmental Psychology. Their children span quite a range of milestones: a senior at Notre Dame, a senior at LSU, an Upper St. Clair High School senior who plays running back on the varsity football team, and a first grader at Streams Elementary.
With family life firmly rooted in Upper St. Clair, J.D. is excited to serve the South Hills community he calls home. Good Roots Medicine brings together his professional experience and a personal commitment to care that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and connected to everyday life.
